Boom box tote bag actually plays your music~

This tote bag is designed to look like a sweet retro boom box, which is great. But what elevates it to the next level is the fact that the speakers actually work, and it's got a jack for your iPod or other MP3 player built right in. Just unzip the cassette compartment, pop in your player of choice, and you've got a boom box that can also hold your workout clothes. Amazing~

See what the X-Men would look like as their cool Manga selves~

Many of our longest-lasting pop culture characters owe a large part of their success to their malleability, their retention of what makes them special in the face of regular re-invention in forms that run the gamut from the inspired to the totally lame~

The X-Men are of course no X-eption, an attribute that leads us to today's case in point, X-Men Misfits #1 (Del Rey Manga Original, $12.99). Written by Kainaq Telgemeir and Dave Roman, and drawn by Anzu, it presents a manga version of Marvel's mutants so removed from the world of cataclysmic battles for the fate of the world than Professor Xavier can only chuckle paternally when new student Kitty Pryde brings up the word "superhero" in his presence~

This is an X-Men almost entirely concerned with the social politics of Xavier's school, where the Hellfire Club is the clique dominated by all the popular kids, and Kitty's greatest concern is not fighting Magneto (who happens to be one of the "hot" teachers), but deciding among several possible candidates for boyfriend~

60-foot robot statue being built~

Gigantor—or Tetsujin 28-go ("Iron Man #28") as he was known in the land of the rising sun—was the first giant robot featured in manga, which of course means the Japanese needed to build a "life-size" version of him in Kobe as an homage to his greatness~

If you grew up in the U.S. in the '60s or '70s, you can no doubt sing you the theme song for the show, which, like Speed Racer, was a watered-down adaptation of a Japanese anime; in this case Tetsujin 28-go, based on the manga by Mitsuteru Yokoyama released in 1956~

The Evel Knievel Children's Chopper($400) features a low-slung seat, high handlebars, extended front fork, chrome-finish trim, working headlight and training wheels. The very cool children chopper! Piet Indoor Stove~

Piet is a chimney-free indoor stove by Fredrik Hylt n-Cavallius. It uses ethanol instead of wood. With a brass reflector, this stove gives off no smoke or soot and can be placed wherever convenient. There is a layer of rock wool fire insulation between the reflector and the outer ceramic shell, so Piet can be placed near walls or furniture. I love it, beautiful~

Wooden PS3 Controller~

Check out this wooden PS3 controller from Singibigi. Dubbed “Joytron,” the controller is compatible with PS3, PS2 and PC. Unlike those plastic controllers, it has a wooden grace that makes it stand out when it comes to choosing a home arcade controller. The wooden grace is backed by a reasonable price tag of $39. I wish it was wireless, nonetheless, it has its own grace~

Domsai Terrariums aka Plant People~

Meet the Domsai! Space men from another planet? Try Milan, where these about-10-inch ETs debuted at 2009’s Design Week and we’re thrilled to be among the very first to introduce here. Matteo Cibic—a multi-threat creative director for architecture, design and ad brands—describes his little guys as a kind of tamagotchi for our desk or side table. Unlike those pedestrian technical toys that require "feeding," the Domsai is high design and beautiful and actually requires a bit of water and sunlight. User interaction is a hallmark of Matteo's work~

Ninja Kunai USB Drive~

A dangerously metal USB drive shaped like a ninja knife, it just makes sense. The 2GB Ninja Kunai drives cost $125 and are in no way, shape or form safe for airplane travel. Or train. Now that I think about it, I wouldn't even drive anywhere with one. Because I used to keep a little pen knife on my keychain and now I push the gas with a peg. Which brings me to an important point: Pirate for hire. Now I know what you're thinking, and yes, I do bachelor parties~

R2-D2 mod crams in eight game consoles and a projector~

R2-D2 always seemed to have the right tool for any odd job, whether it be projecting a message of distress or opening up a blast door. Now, thanks to Popular Science reader Brian De Vitis (and PAX attendee, from the look of it), Artoo will also be able to play video games from a long time ago in living rooms far, far away~

From those rows of controllers strewn out on the floor, it looks like Artoo is packing an NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Genesis, Dreamcast, Playstation, Xbox and — just a guess — PlayStation 2~

The sweetest part? It's also got a built-in projector for playing the games, which shines out of the same spot it did when Leia popped up and told Obi-Wan he was her only hope. There has been no greater legacy console mod than this, to be sure~

Crazy $80,000 Projection Pool Table System~

Obscura CueLight from Gizmodo on Vimeo.

In addition to this setup, where the balls reveal an image hidden underneath, you can also set it up to have flames track behind the balls, or water that ripples as the balls pass over it. It's a pretty awesome trick, one that works surprisingly smoothly~

They're working on new software that will make it more useful than flashy, too. Imagine playing pool and having the lines where you should shoot projected down on the table, with a computer doing all the math necessary to show you just where to aim and how hard to hit~

PlayStation4 design is probably way too cool to be real~

Sony's new, cheaper PS3 Slim means that the PS4 is probably a ways off yet, but that doesn't mean designers aren't thinking about cool designs for PlayStations of the future~

This one is called PlayStation4 Clear, and comes from Australia based designer Tai Chiem. His ultra sleek rendition mounts a round disc drive on a clear touch screen which shows an index of the disc's contents. This, of course, works on the assumption that future PlayStations will continue to use disc based media, something I wouldn't count on with the continuing move towards online gaming and solid state media~

Real-Life Mario Piranha Plant Will Likely Eat Your Pets~

Created by artist and avid gamer Kalapusa, this life-sized Piranha Plant illustrates what life might be like if we lived in a world closer to Mario’s world~

Composed of a special mix of acrylics, clay and a strengthened wire skeleton, I wouldn’t get too close to this thing with any animals lighter than 50 lbs. It’s looking mighty hungry. This plant creeps me out sort of like how wax museums creep me out. It has that uncanny thing going on~

I Could Eat It : World's Biggest Hamburger~

It's the world's biggest burger/heart-attacker and it comes courtesy of Steve Mallie of Southgate, Michigan. Guinness Book of World Records officially declared it the biggest after the burger weighed in at 185lbs~

Steve, who owns Mallie Sports Grill, said it took them 15 hours total to bake the burger, but it was worth it. Being in Guinness was always one of Steve's dreams. Steve said, ''I've worked my entire life to build this restaurant and being able to have the notoriety of Guinness makes it just that bit more rewarding.''~

Steve plans to sell the burger at his restaurant for $499~

Who the hell's gonna buy a 200lb, week old hamburger (which, technically, appears to be a cheeseburger) for $500?~

Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 comes with a 250GB HDD~

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is one of the most highly anticipated video games of the year, so it's no surprise that Microsoft is giving it its own Xbox 360 bundle. But this ain't your normal bundle~

In addition to coming with the game, it comes with a custom case, two wireless controllers and a 250GB hard drive. And that's why it's interesting: the current Xbox 360 Elite has a 120GB HDD, and this new big one won't be available separately~

Pirate Batman and you'll drown in poison gas~

If you try to play the pirated version of Batman Arkham Asylum for the PC, you will plunge into a room filled with poison gas~

Not in real life of course. The ESA doesn't have that kind of power. Yet. But this is how Eidos will stymie people who don't have legitimate copies. When Batman leaps into the air, his cape will open, but it won't stay open to let him glide~

The first time you have to do this is to cross a room filled with poison gas. You have to glide to a platform where you can get a line of sight to throw your batarang at the switch that activates a vent, clearing the gas out of the room. But with a pirated version, you will plunge into the gas. This won't kill you, however. One of the slick things in Batman Arkham Asylum is that when you miss a jump, you can simply press a button to rescue yourself with a grappling hook, and then try the jump again. Imagine the frustration at your repeated failures to glide, bat-like, to your destination! Or check out this thread on Eidos' forums~

I've got a problem when it's time to use Batman's glide in the game. When I hold , like it's said to jump from one platform to another, Batman tries to open his wings again and again instead of gliding. So he fels down in a poisoning gas. If somebody could tel me, what should I do there~
