Peekaru is a Baby Snuggie~

What the hell?

Even though we all now know that the Snuggie is a lousy waste of $15, the concept is still sound. This Peekaru, which is a kangaroo-like pouch for moms and dads to carry baby around in. An actual mom says that shoving the kid's head, symbiote style, inside the pouch isn't enough—a sun shade would be even better. yeah, no joke. oh and its eighty bucks, so pick one up for your baby or your kuato symbiote today~

Takasugi-an by Terunobu Fujimori~

This is Takasugi-an, a tea house in Chino, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. The tea house is built atop two chestnut trees, cut from a nearby mountain and transported to the site, and is accessible only by free-standing ladders propped against one of the trees. Following the tradition of tea masters, who maintained total control over the construction of their tea houses, Fujimori designed and built the structure for his own use. The name Takasugi-an means, “a tea house [built] too high.”~

99 Seinfeld References in 1 Awesome Painting~

Seinfeld was the ultimate show for water cooler conversations. With a countless number of inside jokes, nicknames, characters, and story lines, it didn’t take long for the show to develop it’s very own social language. Now, thanks to Kiersten Essenpreis, we have a beautiful painting depicting a massive, heaping pile of these references (99 to be exact). And she even included a reference key! An excellent tribute to one of the greatest shows of all time.~

Modern Warfare Just Got Both Cuter and More Horrific~

I have never found war as disturbing and morally questionable as I did watching this trailer for the anime Cat Shit One (perhaps you read the manga under its American title, Apocalypse Meow). It is truly unsettling. You haven't fully understood the horrors of Middle Eastern warfare until you've seen them through the eyes of a rabbit on its hind legs fighting an anthropomorphic camel~

I thought this would be a gag in some way, but no. This (cat) shit is real. It's just like watching a trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4 but starring those Blockbuster commercial pets from a few years back. Bet you didn't expect to see the oft-parodied freeze-frame-and-sudden-change-to-graphic-background character introductions with GD MILITARY BUNNIES today, did you? And I bet you DID expect to see cats at some point. Nope~lol~

Call of Duty Moniker Discontinued~

For whatever reason, the "Call of Duty" title is being dropped entirely. First Activision abandoned the numbering entirely in the last game, Call of Duty: World at War, aka Call of Duty 5, aka The One with Nazi Zombies. And now the next Call of Duty, due out on November 10th, will simply be Modern Warfare 2~

OMG: Pizza Vending Machine~

Claudio Torghele, inventor of the "Let's Pizza" vending machine, wants his automated chef to be all three. It can churn out one of four different pies in only three minutes, but it's not just warming up frozen pizza. It'll prepare fresh dough, shape it, sauce it, top it and cook it, sliding a full pie out of a slot — all for just shy of $5~

Twin Parabolic Skis~

Built for racing, each ski is actually two skis in one, connected via hinges with the binding upraised in the middle. Now when you need to turn or stop, you've got four edges instead of two, giving you even more control over your speed~

The Twin Parabolic Ski is the brainchild of Charlie Pyott, and it's more than just a concept. Pyott has actually built working prototypes out of refurbished skis, though there's no data on whether anyone's actually skied on them. But the concept sounds like it has a lot of potential, and considering skis today look completely different than models from 15 years ago, the Twin Parabolic could be the ski everyone's using in the future~

Crazy Conceptual Headphones~

Nokia recently held a design competition for headphones, encouraging designers to base their imaginings on their favorite music. What resulted were some truly insane designs. . The one on the bottom, for example, is called "I'm Flying" and is based on I Believe I Can Fly by R. Kelly. Practical? Not in the slightest. Awesome? Very much so. The First pair shown are Inspired by Michael Jackson's Thriller, it's basically like wearing a crazy diorama on your head. Obviously, none of these will be for sale at Best Buy anytime soon, but they sure are cool to look at~

PS3 and Xbox 360 are getting their own Wiimotes~

the controller will be available this fall for the Xbox 360, “with a PS3 variation potentially following next year.” The Freedom bears a striking resemblance to the Nintendo Wii remote and will ship with a USB-port base station connected to two wands that sit on either side of your TV. Unlike the Wii remote, the Freedom won’t require line-of-sight but will instead use “ultrasonic 3D positioning” to relay the remote’s position via a series of pulses~

Footprints In Wood~

These are actual human footprints worn into a wood floor and they belong to a 70 year-old Buddhist monk named Hua Chi who has prayed on the same spot for over 20 years. The prints are over an inch and a half deep in some places, the result of Chi praying over 3,000 times a day. Chi admits now that, due to his age, he has been forced to cut back to only 1,000 times a day~

Cassette Tape Art~

When cassette tapes break down, usually they get thrown in the trash. But not for flickr artist iri5. Using discarded cassette tapes, iri5 turns them into works of art in a series called, "Ghost in the Machine," portraying various influential musicians such as Jimi Hendrix (pictured), and Jim Morrison~

Sure, Why Not : SNES Toaster Mod or Super Nintoaster~

Built from nothing more than a Super NES, a toaster, four different types of adhesives, magnets ripped from a broken hard drive, six orange LEDs, a bunch of resistors, plexiglass, and many many spare wires. Not too dissimilar from my previous toaster, only this time the temperature comtrol knob DOES serve a purpose! If for some reason you feel the need to adjust the brightness of the orange LEDs, now you can~

Sanwa Throat Microphone: Military Style Bluetooth

Throat microphones, although popular in military and police applications, haven't quite caught on in the civilian ranks. Yet. The Sanwa Throat microphone might change that — if you can get past a few funny stares. The Throat Microphone looks like a high-tech choker, but this collar places a microphone right up against the throat, eliminating most background noise. The concept works perfectly for military and motorcycles, so why not for noisy workplaces or making a call during a football game? The Sanwa model certainly looks less threatening than the ones the SWAT teams use, but for now, no word on pricing or availability~

This seven foot long model of the Home One Calamari Cruiser from Return of The Jedi was built by Thomas Benedikt using 30,500 (mostly gray!) Lego pieces, and took about 11 months to complete at a cost of $5500. Thomas is clearly about as dedicated as Star Wars fans get~

Eye Lamp~

Looking for that creepy, futuristic piece of functional wall art to really tie your whole apartment together? This conceptual Eye Lamp may be just the thing. It's, as one would expect, a bit eye, made of polished metal, that shines light when it's open. It's pretty damned unsettling!~

If you want a dimmer light, the "lids" will close partially, making the eye look even more threatening. Want it brighter? Just raise those lids. As I said, it is a concept so don't go looking for it at your local creepy light store anytime soon. But hey, maybe someday~

Spielberg Adapting Ghost in the Shell into Live-Action 3D!~

20 years since its debut in 1989, DreamWorks has finally secured the rights to adapt the Japanese manga and anime series Ghost in the Shell into a 3D live-action feature film. Both Universal and Sony were also chasing the rights, but Steven Spielberg himself took a personal interest in it and made sure it ended up in the hands of his company - DreamWorks. Spielberg says that Ghost in the Shell is one of his favorite stories and is "a genre that has arrived and we enthusiastically welcome it to DreamWorks."~

Waveform bracelet displays sound advice~

Ordinary folks can engrave a bracelet or ring with a personal message. For a more cryptic approach, The Sound Advice Project will record your voice and make it a waveform bracelet. I stare at waveforms all day long, and these bracelets look like they're a close representation. But let's avoid a discussion about what their sampling rate and quantization levels are~

The bracelets were conceived for parents to create discrete anti-drug messages for their teens, with a portion of the proceeds going to anti-drug programs. However, there's no reason that has to be its only purpose. Who needs diamonds — what woman wouldn't adore a bracelet that says, "Thanks for putting up with my video game obsession?"~
